This year’s National Children’s Month theme reminds us of the growing dangers that children face in the digital world. The message, “End Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children,” calls on everyone to take action in protecting children from online predators and harmful content. In today’s time when technology is everywhere, it’s heartbreaking to know that some people use it to harm the innocent. This celebration reminds us that every child deserves to live safely free from fear, abuse, and exploitation both in real life and online.
I believe the government has made important efforts to protect the rights and safety of children. Through Republic Act No. 11930, also known as the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act, the Philippines has shown a strong stand against child exploitation. Agencies like the DSWD, DOJ, and IACAT work together to rescue victims, catch offenders, and raise awareness about online safety. These programs give hope that the government is taking children’s welfare seriously, ensuring that their dignity and innocence are respected at all times.
Still, laws alone are not enough. Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility parents, teachers, friends, and even online users. We all play a part in building a safe environment where children can learn, explore, and grow without fear. This year’s celebration is more than a campaign; it’s a reminder that every child’s safety is worth fighting for. When we stand together against abuse, we give children the freedom to dream and the chance to live a life full of hope and love.
